Xiaomi Redmi 5 4GB RAM Variant Launched: Price, Specifications, etc
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 now has introduced a third variant with 4GB RAM, the successor to last year’s Redmi 4, in December 2017 . This variant i currently launched in China.
Listed on the official Xiaomi store, this will be the third variant in the Redmi 5 range that was previously launched in 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM options(was available in two storage variants with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage). It isn’t a radical departure from its predecessor, but features a new edge-to-edge design and a number of under-the-hood improvements.
If one is to compare, there is no difference in terms of design or features as compared to the original Redmi 5 smartphone. There has been only a boost in terms of memory. The Redmi 5 4GB RAM variant’s price is CNY 1,099 (around ₹ 11,000), a premium of CNY 200 (roughly ₹ 2,000). It apparently comes with no other specification upgrades except the increased RAM; it has inbuilt storage of 32GB. The smartphone is yet to launch in India.
The new variant is available in Black, Rose Gold, Light Blue, and Gold color variants. The smartphone was launched alongside the Redmi 5 Plus at an event in China. n the 4GB RAM model, the internal storage remains at 32GB, however, you can expand it further via micro SD card. The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440×720) LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a 3,300mAh battery that Xiaomi claims can last up to two days on a single charge. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core system-on-a-chip (SoC) featuring clusters of Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and an Adreno 506 GPU. In the camera department, the Redmi 5 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with flash, PDAF, and an f/2.2 aperture lens. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera sensor with Beautify 3.0 features for enhanced portraits. Selfie cam is 5 MP, 1080p video @ 30fps.A fingerprint sensor is placed below the camera module on the back. Other specifications include a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for Bluetooth 4.2, a hybrid dual SIM/micro SD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a micro USB port, and Xiaomi’s Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 skin. The pros are that it Has a Big 18:9 display, Fast fingerprint scanner, Great value for money but No waterproofing, No NFC, low-resolution display.
